Shawl of the Week: South Seas Stole
My sister just came back from vacation in Isla Mujeres and has been torturing me with photographs of sparkling blue ocean and colorful surroundings. Unfortunately for me, the closest I’ll get to a tropical vacation for a while will be to knit this South Seas Stole by Laura Patterson.

Four different water-inspired lace patterns make up the center panel, which is then bordered by a fifth pattern of waves. Beads make the whole thing sparkle like sun on the ocean.

The pattern calls for 1000 yards of JaggerSpun Zephyr wool silk 2/18 and 13 grams of size 8/0 seed beads. The finished size is approximately 24 by 72 inches. Other laceweight yarns that will block well could be substituted. I think something with seacell would be especially appropriate.
The South Seas Stole is available as a PDF download for $7.50 from Fiber Dreams and via Ravelry.

What is Seacell? I just saw this the other day on WoolGirl’s site. I have not heard of this material/fiber.
