Oh but seriously YES! How much do I love this? Very, very much. On the surface, Noreen Crone-Findlay’s Crochet Wasp Nest is just amazing for what it is. Nature duplicated in crochet. Then you dig a little deeper and find the back-story and smack love blooms eternal. Is Noreen daunted by the sold-out status of the environmentally friendly wasp-be-gone-nest? (yes, apparently wasps can be flat-out tricked into building their nests elsewhere…who knew???) No Noreen most certainly is not. Determined to protect her family from airborne attack without poisoning the heck out of the beesies and birdsies of their environs, Noreen she crochets her own. And posts the pattern so you can do the same. Noreen, I love you!

[ETA a note from Noreen: "The crocheted wasp/hornet's nests are really helping to keep the buzzyboogers at bay! I've been getting letters from people saying that they're working for them, too...." Seriously how great is this??? Crochet power!]

And I loves you, too! muhwuh, muhwuh.
I loves the bees, but I DO NOT love hornets and other wee nasties. I am so pleased that the crocheted fake nest is actually working at keeping what we call ” )(()&$%^&$%)( wasps” at bay.
I’ve had all kinds of letters from people telling me that we gots hornets not wasps like THEY have…. sigh.
As long as the thingie is working, I am not reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally all that concerned about what name the wee stinkers have on their -oh NO! a very bad pun just unfolded itself: buzzzzzzzzzzziness cards….
apologies for that…. and thanks so much for the link love!
Long live LIme & Violet’s Daily Chum!
