Fiber Arts: Sweater Sloganeering

Posted by michelle On October - 15 - 2008

It’s Lisa Anne Auerbach’s busy season!

This Los Angeles-based artist is fascinated by political slogans of the past and present. Armed with a knitting machine, she works these slogans into bold knitted panels and one-of-a-kind sweaters. With election year politics consuming us here in the U.S., it’s no surprise that Auerbach has three separate exhibitions running right now.

These and other sweaters are on display at the Aspen Art Museum now through November 30th. For more detail, here’s an article from the Aspen Times Weekly.

Another exhibit, titled “If Nothing Changes, It Changes Nothing” spans 15 years of Lisa’s work is on display at Printed Matter in New York City, and she’s also participating in a group exhibit called “Hello Liberty” at the Dalton Gallery in Decatur, GA.

To keep up with Lisa and her work (if you can! I’m exhausted from just writing this little post!), check out her official site or The Little Red Blog of Revolutionary Knitting.
