Fiber Arts: Freaks of Nurture

Posted by michelle On January - 7 - 2009

Elaine Bradford has made a specialty of combining two decidedly unrelated crafts: crochet and taxidermy.

The nice thing about crocheting your own taxidermy is that pesky details like anatomical correctness are kind of beside the point.  Bradford’s results have been called “Freaks of Nurture” due to the imaginative collision of colorful stitching and unlikely physiology.

In the Austin area?  Bradford’s new exhibit entitled Museum of UnNatural History will be displayed at Art League Houston from January 9th until February 20th.

I think that would be the Houston area, not the Austin area! Thanks for this – I’ve alerted my friend, the artist in Houston, to the display!
