About L&V

THE SHORT ANSWER:

Lime and Violet is a mostly-weekly podcast about life, yarn, and knitting (in that order), started in June, 2006. In August ‘06, it was expanded into a message board community, and in May ‘07, an online shop.

Now, there’s a centralized place to come to online every day to find the newest books, yarns, and media reviews to enrich your knitting life.

Our mothers are so proud…

OR FOR YOU INFOJUNKIES:

Miss Violet is 36, married to a sideshow freak, and living in the hinterlands after being exiled from her beloved Pacific Northwest. She used to be in publishing, and was a writer and artist for years before knitting and yarnlust infected her soul with Teh Obsessionz, and now, there’s not much room left for anything else.

Not that she’s complaining much.

She’s mom to three furry dogs who count among their interests such things as “barking at air”, “throwing up on mom’s work”, and “sleeping copious amounts of time”. All things Miz V doesn’t really mind doing, either. Other than the throwing up thing.

Miss Lime is also in her thirties, has a day job and a small penchant for boys in kilts. She runs around with sound guys and spends a lot of time in a place dubbed The Under The Sea Lounge, which is really just some guy’s basement. (Granted, said boy is girlier than Martha Stewart….)

Her yarn lust came into her life a few years back, and after a pair of purple legwarmers and a few bags came off the needles, Miss Lime dove into socks with a pair of Grumperina’s famous Jaywalkers, and it was a downward spiral from there. (That pattern really needs to have a surgeon general’s warning. It’s a gateway drug to sock addiction. Seriously.)

Four ratlings share Ms. Lime-O-La’s home and heart, along with a Marblekitty who’s greatest love in life is having people watch her when she eats, and laying precariously on your knees while being scritched into a purring lump of catflesh. Luckily, despite stereotypes, she’s not the yarn-eatin’ kinda kitty.

ABOUT THIS NEWSBLOG:

The design was done by the amazing Brianna Privett, who really needs to develop a burning desire for sock knitting so that we can shower her with some love in the form of wool. You can find more of her work at http://www.utopian.net.

Every day, there will be new stuff here for you to peruse. Reviews of books, yarns, and websites for crackdealers , er…I mean yarn vendors of choice; podcast shoutouts so you know when the newest voices come online, charity knitting opportunities, news items of note, and collections of the blogiverse’s best fiber-related posts are among some of the things you’ll find here. An Etsy Site of the Day (ESotD, for short) will be here, too, so you, TOO, can spend your money on your crack yarn of choice.

We’re hoping to cover most of the fiber arts in time, and probably sprinkle in some general creativity, too — since, really, knitting is a creative act. And helping you refill that well is one of the services we hope to provide.

We’re glad you’re here. Thanks for listening.

I have come across you guys from a mention on an old podcast of yarn craft from lion brand. I have only just found podcasts. You ladies are great. You keep me awake in the wee hours while I wait to pick up my son from his closing shift at work. You also keep me occupied while at work. Note the housekeeper job description. My only problem with your site is that not all the shownotes have a podcast download button. Did I miss it???

    Keep it up.
